About Us

Whollywaters is by Phil and Rhyta from the NorthEast USA.  They started Sand Hill Photo number of years ago but have since launched a web site that focuses on their specific landscape intersts - waterscapes.

"Wholly Waters" is just about water images.  Water and rocks to be exact.  It is a challenging photographic subject - and one they find quite enchanting.  It can be spectacular and as close as a local creek or stream.  They can't get away often to the more "exotic" locations, but always find enchantment and amazement in the local areas.  If you look hard enough, you'll find that the perfect photographic location isjust about in your backyard.  Photography tends to sharpen the eye.

And while they focus wholly on waters, they run into an occsional eagle, egret, heron, and a myriad of birds, ducks, minks, and more.  It is simply amazing.  And in the Spring, the wild flowers and budding bushes can be quite extraodinary in their beauty.

Their photographic ventures have also made them appreciate the beauty of the local environment, often disappointed by the grafitti, liter and abuse of these natural resources.  Nothing like spray paint on a beautiful rock formation to ruin the day - for a long time.

Join them if you will in exploring these special naural locations and do what you can to preserve and protect their beauty.

Phil is an accomplished photographer and technically astute mathematician.  Very demanding and attentive to detail, color, sharpness, compositions, background, etc.  He'll go to great lengths and distances to get the shot from the right location and perspective.  Phil also has a great eye with lots of coordination - can pan when birding remarakbly well, c atching our lying friends in great poses.

Rhyta is a chemical engineering and a diligent student of photography.  She  works at it religiously, trying to get the right feeling of the water, rocks, and surround landscape.  Besides waterscapes, Rhyta is excellent at sports photography including equestrian sports and soccer, childrens' candid portraits and close ups.  Actually, there probably isn't a photo op that she won't dive info.  You can find out more at www.byrhyta.com or www.byrhyta.blogspot.com
